About Leslie Ellison & Wildlife in Watercolour

Message from Leslie's daughter Kathryn

My wonderful dad Leslie passed away aged 83 on Monday April 16, 2018 after seven weeks in Kettering General Hospital bravely battling sepsis as well as his leukaemia. Dad's courage and optimism were an inspiration to the end. He  fought so hard to try to live, not least because of his absolute devotion to my mum, having been her carer for over 40 years. They  celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on April 1.

Painful as our loss is, we know that dad would want others to continue to take pleasure in his paintings. Take a look at our charity greetings cards - 100% of any donations go directly to Kettering General Hospital.

Leslie's art

A retired Geography lecturer, Leslie took up painting as a hobby to document his transformation of a new garden after moving to Cumbria 30 years ago. While living in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, his charming watercolour paintings conveyed the wildlife, beautiful flowers and country activities he encountered in daily life. Keeping an illustrated nature diary not only proved a comfort after he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, but also provided a sense of accomplishment, which brought much joy to both himself and his family.

Leslie's daughter Kathryn Jones, who also lives in Burton Latimer, established 'Wildlife in watercolour' in October 2017 to share his creative legacy and help raise money for charity. She is currently raising funds for Kettering General Hospital.
